Joint Physical and Complex Disability Strategy for Midlothian

This group exists to plan services for people in Midlothian who are affected by physical disability, and we are currently developing a Physical and Complex Disability Strategy for Midlothian.

The group currently has involvement and membership from five people to represent and promote service user and carer interest; Jan Barnett, Marlene Gill, Catherine Evans, Joan Griffiths and Eric Johnstone.

We are keen to make contact and engage with groups across Midlothian that include people with disability as members and participants..

We would like to keep you and your group members informed about the work we are doing, and to communicate with you about what you think we should be doing. In other words, we would like you to be included in the development of the work we do.

This will enable us to best meet the needs of people with disabilities.

This is very much a starting point, and we would appreciate your assistance by completing the attached form to tell us more about your group. We would also appreciate your comments about how we can best keep you up to date and involved with what we do.

One of the ideas we had was to create a “scrutiny panel” to oversee the work we do. A scrutiny panel is a group of people with disabilities that meets every 2 months or so to look over the work that has been done by the planning group. The panel can then tell us what they think of the work, and whether there are things we are missing.
